DVDs have come a long way since their inception in 1996. They now contain much more than just the feature. DVD extras may include subtitles not just for foreign languages but for the deaf and hearing impaired.

Australia has over 3 million deaf and hearing impaired who rely on subtitles on DVDs to understand the story. Subtitles enable them to feel the emotion intended, to enjoy the viewing experience and to share that experience with others. Putting subtitles on your DVD is a very simple process, one that happens during the authoring stage. It is an inexpensive way to reach a larger audience and sends a very positive message to the community.
